I've also suspected something like this for a while, but I have no evidence.
Fact is that I frequently see javac 7 use 1600% CPU, and it uses much more CPU
time than javac 6 to do "roughly" the same. I don't know if javac is just that
much slower in 7 due to added complexity or if this is an artifact of a
concurrency bug.
