FWIW, my "what's best for openjdk" judgement is that it is
best to keep the pressure on for a total overhaul effort for
JDK9: For example, a package jvm.* developed with
consensus with others VM folks, a JMM-like full spec effort for
memory model related stuff. A indy/mh-based solution
to the awfulness of using offset args. And so on.
So the little bandaid of moving these three methods
could be counter-productive -- allowing more muddling
along for more releases.

But really, at this point, I'd take anything.
