From Joe.Darcy at Sun.COM Thu Jan 24 23:28:16 2008 From: Joe.Darcy at Sun.COM (Joseph D. Darcy) Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2008 23:28:16 -0800 Subject: Hello world OpenJDK 6 Message-ID: <47998F90.5040806@sun.com> Greetings and welcome to the OpenJDK 6 project! At Sun we're still working on wrapping up some technical details and remaining internal reviews before the first public release of our JDK 6-from-7 code for this project (http://blogs.sun.com/darcy/entry/forward_to_the_past). The initial source drop will probably just be a tar ball, with Mercurial repositories to follow a bit later. There are a few remaining engineering tasks that will be more efficient for us to handle internally with the old but familiar teamware SCM rather than Mercurial. Currently there are still some failures when running against JCK 6a and the code base has the same remaining encumbered binary plugs as JDK 7 (sound, SNMP, imaging API). I look forward to working with the broader community on this project to create a compatible and fully open source Java SE 6 implementation. Regards, -Joe Darcy
