I would like to re-target this feature to M5. Development is progressing nicely through the SCTP OpenJDK project [3], but I would like to hold off on integration into the JDK 7 master to accommodate the SQE schedule, as well as a conflict with my JavaOne activities (I am planning to speak about this at one of our BOFS [4] ). I'll ensure that the JDK 7 development schedule [2] is updated to reflect this change. Thanks, -Chris. The SQE testing cycle is aligned with the milestone schedule. If you can't make build 55, can you make build 56? Given the relative independence of the SCTP API from the rest of the code base I'd be open to it being integrated somewhat later in M3. In order to keep the preview release compelling and get more exposure to the new code, I'd prefer to have this feature in now (waiving some individual milestone exit criteria if necessary) rather than postpone integration until future milestones. Let me check with Shantaram tonight, but unless there are some newly developed blockers I'd say let's get it in M3. JSN/TL don't have an integration slot for b56, but I can work with other integrators that do have a slot. I will work on finalizing the API and CCC request for tomorrow, but the schedule will be tight. It will require a quick turn around on the side of CCC to make what I believe would be a code freeze of 14th April (giving one week PIT for client integration slot). Let me know if you think this is a runner. -Chris. > > Vita, other Release Team members: What do you think? > > - Mark From mr at sun.com Tue Apr 7 09:46:38 2009 From: mr at sun.com (Mark Reinhold) Date: Tue, 07 Apr 2009 09:46:38 -0700 Subject: [sctp-dev] JDK7 Feature schedule: SCTP In-Reply-To: christopher.hegarty@sun.com; Tue, 07 Apr 2009 17:34:58 BST; <49DB80B2.5010604@sun.com> Message-ID: <20090407164638.CD9251D83@eggemoggin.niobe.net> > Date: Tue, 07 Apr 2009 17:34:58 +0100 > From: christopher.hegarty at sun.com > Mark Reinhold wrote: >> If you can't make build 55, can you make build 56? Yes, this sounds like a reasonable plan. Here's an update on where we are with this project: - Integrated [1] into JDK 7 b56, which will make Milestone 3, the JavaOne Preview - Minor updates to the the API, b11 is now available [2] - Several bug fixes in the implementation The SCTP API is one of the features listed for JDK 7 [3]. The API and implementation have evolved over the past number of months since this project was setup. I have had feedback on this alias and from group members individually. Now that it has been integrated into the master JDK 7 repository you can access the API from the JDK 7 Snapshot Releases [4], as opposed to downloading an SCTP specific build which you had to do up until now. I will continue to fix bugs and make minor spec changes where necessary over then next few months, and depending on severity/urgency I plan to integrate into the JDK7 repository periodically. Of course, if there is something that is really hampering your development we can alway release sctp specific bundles for this. Please download and try out SCTP with the latest JDK7. -Chris. It is really low priority for me right now. I agree that it is certainly worth investigating, but my reference is still to have someone (on this mailing list, or otherwise) do the scoping work, or even the whole port. I will certainly keep this on my wish list, but unfortunately I cannot make a more definite commitment at the moment. -Chris. cowwoc wrote: > > Any update on a Windows port as we discussed a few months ago? > Shipping sctp standard on Windows could potentially have a huge impact > on the industry. > > Gili
