Hi, Peter.
The Aqua look and feel is based on the JRS library, which is provided by 
Apple. As far as I know the Apple provide the new "modern style 
controls" in the new version of JRS in OS X v10.11. You can ask 
additional information on java-dev mailing list at apple.com [1]
