FWIW, from what I've seen of NIO2 (I backported it to OpenJDK6 in
IcedTea but under GNU/Linux), most of it should work on *BSD without
too much trouble. A good chunk of it is just Java code or native code
which uses POSIX APIs (readdir, etc.). The specific stuff is found in
ACL, extended attribute and directory watch support (which varies
between Solaris and Linux too). It should be possible to just not
support this on *BSD initially and allow builds of the later drops to
