Ah, I read that document and even that FAQ, but completely missed that as
I was looking for something relating to verbosity, not logging which implies
(at least to me) that a log will be stored on disk.
I still think it should be a configure option, which is the first place I looked.
It seems there's still a need to make some options available via configure which
are currently only available to make.
