One last note/clarification - if you use JDK 9/JDK 8u20 with the
-source 6 -target 6 (which seem to be similar to the one you mention in
the bug report), then the time goes back to this:

So, I see no regression whatsoever from 7 to 8 (if you compile with
-source 7 - that is).
