Backport for to jdk8?

I was pretty shell-shocked when my applications no longer worked after 
some changes to my machine. And the console output wasn't exactly 
helpful either:

[rli at rlimbus ~]$ /opt/QA/current/QA
/home/rli/devel/sys/opt/QA/current/QA have received a copy of the GNU 
General Public License
# along with this program; if not, see <>.

# The format of this file is the same as for the corresponding file of
# the X Window System, which normally can be found in

So a backport would be most welcome :-).
